A little over a month ago, the Melbourne-based producer and Say Wat Records kingpin, Benson, unveiled his latest tropical-tinged deep house cut entitled, ‘Hot Mess’. Layering the alluring vox of Lex Famous atop a bed of tottering bass and an amalgam of crisp synths, ‘Hot Mess’ ingenuously operates at the interface of pop and house. In addition to the original release, ‘Hot Mess’ comes fully outfitted with a slew of top-notch remixes from Dom Dolla, Jad & The Ladyboy and our personal favorite – Yolanda Be Cool.
On par with their esteemed reputation, the Australian duo and Sweat It Out! residents known as YBC expertly reinterpret Benson’s swampy original in a balanced yet club-friendly manner. Tapering their signature big bass kicks down a tad, YBC let Lex’s vocal top line drive the track over a lush foundation of sun-soaked synths and playful chords; creating yet another flawlessly executed production to add to their catalog.
