If there’s anything I’ve learned from following Orphic, it is that he is fearless in his productions. He has remixed artists that some might consider taboo or even sacred, including Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Eddie Grant. Now, he has turned his sights toward The Beach Boys.
Remixing their seminal hit ‘Good Vibrations,’ Orphic turns it into an acid bass, glitch hop, funk-filled joy ride that is a marvel of production. The whole original feeling is there, along with all of the tambourine and high-pitched vocals you could stand, along with a heaping dose of grooving bass and warped synths. Since the release of his album Fractal Beach six months ago, Orphic has been dealing almost exclusively in remixes. However, I can’t help but shake the feeling that these are just fun things to do in his free time… I wouldn’t be surprised it he brought out some big guns in the near future to surprise us all.
