If the Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls was really haunted, those ghosts kept their distance from Jordy van Egmond and Daan Romers, also known as Dyro & Dannic, as they each played thundering sets before good friend Hardwell took stage. Words don’t do justice to the amount of energy and momentum these talented artists brought to the stage. I had a chance to catch up with each of them to hear their thoughts on the tour and plans for the year with their own music.
To start, Jordy and Daan are a few of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet with an incredible passion for their music. This is the second time around for the North American Bus tour, and they couldn’t be more excited for it: 
JORDY
“We had so much fun last year so we decided to do it again. We always say the downside of touring is all the flying and traveling but with the bus you have the mobile hotel always with you and it’s so much fun to be all-together. Compared to last year, the capacities of the rooms are WAY bigger. It’s a recognition of your improvement and a lot of fun to experience like that.”
DAAN
“After the first tour our careers started off really quick. It was a hard time for because we didn’t see each other for months, of course we were always in touch, but touring together is extremely fun. We are best friends sharing the same passion, partying together, blending extremely well together.”
With this powerhouse of a lineup, you can expect a massive show. Yet, each brings a very unique style to the table, building the crowd with immense energy in expert fashion.
JORDY
“Every single one of us has a really unique sound. Right before the first show, we met in my hotel room to decide who’s gonna play what. We saddled it in like five minutes. Obviously Hardwell gets the bigger hits to play because the people expect that from him, but it’s not really that hard for us to build our sets together.”
DAAN
“The best thing is, we blend really well together. I open, then it’s Dyro, then Hardwell. We have our own sound and we know what we play. It’s about passion, not even work or a hobby, it’s something you can’t touch.”
Amidst the tour, these guys also have a lot of hype building around their own tracks, like Dyro’s smash with Ryder, “Calling Out” as well as Dannic’s first vocal track with Bright Lights, “Dear Life”, both making appearances into the Beatport top ten.
JORDY
“First off, I love my podcast because I can add music I actually respect and share with my fans that there is more to some types of music. For my productions, I think I have a good sound. The last song that Hardwell premiered at Ultra is the sound of where I’m at right now, but I’m evolving, evolving every day and I think that’s a good thing. You have to evolve to where the scene is going to.”
DAAN
“I was little bit scared about “Dear Life” because it was my first vocal track. I actually didn’t want Heather [Bright Lights] to sing it because of course Hardwell and Dyro already have a tune with her and I didn’t want people to think I was a copycat or something. However, Heather was like ‘that’s my track and I want to sing it’ and I really couldn’t be happier with it. It actually just went back into the Beatport top ten! I’m working on a follow up for ‘Viper’, really hard hitting, even Hardwell premiered it at Ultra, I’m really happy with that one too. I’m also working on a new vocal track with Shermanology who is crazy talented. I get goose bumps every time I talk about it.”
Yet, this isn’t considered work; it’s a passion for both.
JORDY
“I have a lot of respect for Tommy Trash, Wolfgang Gartner, who keep me inspired and on my toes to keep evolving. Even with this tour, instead of just the crowd hearing Beatport top ten for three hours straight, which is just about the worst thing you can do, we can mold a really good show because we work so well together. Sometimes Robert and I even switch sets because I can go even harder, if I have to, but at the end of the day we are building energy and a unique experience for our crowd.”
DAAN
“I’m a real DJ DJ. It sounds weird but I always look at my set and ask myself ‘What am I missing?’ That’s how I produce, I always think about what I’m missing and what else can be added. With this tour, Hardwell wants me to support him because I can play from tech house up to progressive house. That’s what I love to do, just put me in a black box and let me play that tech house, that deep underground shit and watch it build into a big set.”
The most prominent idea I took from the interview is that these guys are not just producers or artists; they are professionals. A recurring statement each made was the importance of looking out for your own sound and being the best at what makes you unique. Dyro & Dannic are in it for the music and their passion is unparalleled.
