Just in case you didn’t already know, Krewella started playing an acoustic version of the chillstep ballad ‘Human’ at all their shows, including Ultra. While some people knocked them for playing a slower more emotional track at such a large scale event that is known for going as hard as you can, it took a lot of courage to do this, especially since it was being streamed live on YouTube, so you have to give them credit for that. Below is the highest quality video out there of the Krew performing the track, and for this time only they were accompanied by the incredibly talented guitarist Charlie Kim; the result is nothing short of spectacular.
However, in my mind, the coolest part about the video is how the everyone in the crowd is singing along so loudly that it’s kind of hard to hear Jahan and Yasmine at times. It’s beautiful to see how Krewella can bring so many people from different background together for an instant and isn’t that what EDM is all about in the first place? Exactly one year ago today, I saw Krewella for the first time in Boston two days after the marathon bombings. I honestly don’t know where I’d be today if I didn’t go to their show, which helped me realize that EDM is what I’m really passionate about. People always say that music heals, but I didn’t truly believe it until I experienced it firsthand that fateful night.
