There was an unexpected show last year at SXSW. When electronic music legends deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin came together for a back-to-back set, worlds collided for the better. After the buzz that spawned from that show, many who were unable to attend and those who simply wanted a repeat of the performance could not find a rip of the set or a soundcloud link anywhere online.
Now after a full year later, Hawtin put up the infamous set in its entirety up on his soundcloud page. This set displays a techno powered arsenal with small inserts of vocals from different deadmau5 songs. It’s also a nice surprise after Hawtin’s label recently released a track from deadmau5 under the alias testpilot called “Sunspot (White Space Conflict)” after seeing no release in over a year and a half. These two not only seem to get along but it also appears that Joel is able to dabble in the techno world as well and can serve as interesting material for the future.
