Are police cracking down harder at music festivals?
Recent police reports from Field Day, Sydney’s New Years dance festival that attracted over 20,000 people and featured artists such as Flume, Wiz Khalifa, ASAP Rocky, Dusky, indicates:
- 140 arrests for drug possession
- 22 ejections for disorderly conduct or intoxication
- A drug charge for two men, 18 and 20, who were allegedly discovered with 35 ecstasy tablets and will face court.
“We will continue to run these operations to ensure music-lovers can attend festivals and enjoy themselves in a safe, drug-free environment,” said Chief Inspector Stuart Bell.
It seems as those police operations have gotten stricter, especially after a man died of a suspected drug overdose at the hardstyle festival Defqon.1 in September. Following the Defqon.1 incident, the number of arrests at music festivals have increased, including:
- 139 at Stereosonic Melbourne
- 100 at Steresonic Sydney
- Over 100 at Beyond Wonderland
We hope that future festivals will have cleaner records like that of the successful TomorrowWorld.

Get the tablets out of festivals and life in general…bunk drugs, ignorance, and lack of education WILL result in deaths.
