Entertainment Tax Is Implemented At 25%, Festivals Included

Taxes

With recent complaints about festival ticket prices, fans will not be happy to hear that the Indian government has implemented a new entertainment tax on events that have 2,000 or more attendees. Amusement/entertainment taxes are already here in the United States, but they are lower than the 25% level, except for cinematic events. If this is successful in India, then we could see the tax rates go up in the US, especially given the extreme popularity of big festivals that would rake in a lot of cash.

You may think this doesn’t effect you because it is in India (unless you are reading this in India, of course), but economic strategies spread throughout the world. The US debt is something on everybody’s minds, politicians especially. This would be a great way to get some supplemental income, but it would rest on our backs unfortunately.
