There are a few taboo topics in our scene, one of them being “ghost-producing”. Often thrown around, there are very few instances where the accusations are founded on proof. But in this case we present to you some hard evidence. In a recent interview with inthemix, the newly crowned number 1 DJ in the world, Dutch superstar Hardwell, admits to having ghost produced a Beatport Top 10.
“The funny thing is that nobody knows I have a current Beatport Top Ten hit with a track not under my name, a track that I ghost-produced, and nobody’s noticing it. But if people listen closely to the top ten, for sure they’re gonna hear which track it is.”
The artist then goes on to detail his opinion on the whole matter stating that he’s actually fine with ghost-producing.
“I’m fine with ghost-producing, but then again I don’t like it when…if you’re not producing your own tracks then just be honest, say ‘you know what, I’m a good DJ but I can’t produce my own songs, I got help,’ I think that’s fair. Because honestly, you can hear it, because every single track sounds totally different. Everybody knows in the scene who works with ghost-producers”
Let us know in the comment section below your thoughts on the whole matter. We also challenge you to find this mysterious top 10 that Hardwell ghost produced.
UPDATE: Revealed Recordings just tweeted that the track is no longer in the top 10 and that it’s actually not on Hardwell’s label. The hunt continues…
@edmtunes The HARDWELL ghost produced track is NOT in the top 10 anymore. It was also not released on @RevealedRec please edit!

definitely not animals or clarity.. zedd and martin garrix both master tracks for other produers they wouldnt need hardwells help
“you can hear it, because every single track sounds totally different.” hmm
a current top 10 track? hmm “pallaroid” does sound a lot like hardwell…
Either Pallaroid or Payback
Must be Animals or Clarity.
Revolution? :X
Pallaroid? It sounds really similarly to some Hardwell tracks.
“every single tracks sounds totally different.” On the Top 10? Go stick your head up your ass, no they don’t.
i think what he meant when he said “bc every single track sounds totally difft” he meant that whoever used the ghost producer, their songs all sound different bc they never really produce a real one themselves. I THINK. any thoughts?
Its gotta be Pallaroid. Who the hell is Thomas Newson? And its on his label. Finally, he debuted the track at TomorrowLand himself. Definitely his work.
I Think Pallaroid Just Cause It’s Under His Label.
Either way, Pallaroid is an awesome song.
UZ
Pallaroid, clearly…
Well… Pallaroid sounds a bit like jumper.. they both even are same lenght + Have the same lead/build/drop lenghts.. but but Pallaroid is still an awesome song 🙂 Dissapointed in Tommy boy tho =[
I don’t think they paid him to shine a light
It’s animals 🙂
It’s not Pallaroid. You have to think timing on that one. Pallaroid was released Monday, and was charted Tuesday, but it was officially on the top 10 (at #7) on today. The interview with Hardwell was on Wednesday, so it would have to be a song that was at the top 10 when the interview was originally written, and we’re not entirely sure when that was. It’s recent, that’s for sure, but it may or may not be a current placeholder.
Well I can gladly say it’s not the Dusky track, since they’re much more talented than Hardwell ever will be.
To be honest, ‘Thomas Newson – Pallaroid’ sounds more like Hardwell style.

Anyone else think it’s funny that this poll includes a song by Hardwell? By definition he can’t ghost produce a track he admitted he made.
whoever voted for hardwell ft mathew kuma your an idiot because it has his name on it! its not ghost producing if you put your name on it
definitely pallaroid, its on out on revealed also, dead give away lol
and revolution was too bad to be by hardwell haha
I bet its the nervo chicks..
Promise Land – Bad DJ
since it wasn’t released on Revealed, i’m just gonna take a shot in the dark and say Big Bang by twoloud. it’s not that new but it was top 10 for a bit. twoloud also came out of nowhere with like 100 facebook fans when they released the song.
Who ever is saying pollaroid are clearly not seeing that it was that the track wasn’t realased on revealed
Im not in favor of ghost-producing because artists earns recognition and money by claiming their piece of a cake they never made. A DJ with bad production skills should realize the fact instead of paying someone off (who might be perfectly happy with the situation though) to give him/her the “hits” needed to break through in todays scene. I’ve experienced the love of a track dissapear right after I heard it was ghost-produced, because it rocks with the ground foundation of a track; the desire to communicate feelings to the audience.

THE PARTYSQUAD, MITCHELL NIEMEYER – #PANTSDOWN (CLUB MIX)
The Track is: The Partysquad & Mitchell Niemeyer – #Pantsdown
It might be #Pantsdown By The Partysquad, Mitchell Niemeyer
I think it’s PANTSDOWN. Check it out guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIL7pYDNaeM
He ghost produced this song http://www.beatport.com/track/pound-pantsdown-club-mix/4802491 one of the synths sound similar to Alive (Hardwell Remix)
he’s ghosting for DSKOTEK *_*
Hardwell for sure ghost produced The Partysquad & Mitchell Niemeyer – #PantsDown. If you listen closely to the combination of the synth sounds, percussion elements, and composition it screams Hardwell. Revealed noted that it was not currently on top ten, and that it was not released on their label, which throws the Pallaroid option out, which is fairly close to the “Hardwell Sound.” Hardwell has played a majority of these songs that are considered in his various versions of Hardwell On Air, but the only other option that stands out is big bang – two loud because in HOA 137 he mashed it up with Krewella’s Alive which he remixed and had stems for. It is possible this was maybe his first version of the remix, or an alternate idea he had planned, but decided it wasn’t as good as what he came up with, leaving him with a choice to sell the song. Also the song was released on Musical Freedom, which Hardwell obviously has direct ties to through Tiesto himself. Anyone who thinks it was Revolution really needs to listen to the specific lead and bass sounds used, it is clearly the signature Unmet Ozcan sound, and Nervo was merely a vocal addition. Spinnin’ Records is known to have many ghost producers for their “signed” DJs, so it would be to no surprise that with all of these factors in mind, Pantsdown is the track he is mentioning.
“admits”. Catchy headlines and buzzwords annoy the shit out of me.
It’s a track of Tiesto for sure! because every single track sounds totally different…!
#pantsdown it is. Because this topic was already al over the internet.
It’s Pantsdown! Just compare it with his Krewella – Alive Remix, exactly the same synth’s and the same tom’s …
Ik denk eigenlijk dat het Revolution is op 1, van r3hab, ummet en n3rvo.
Gotta agree with the partysquad theory. It is common knowledge that they have hired a lot of ghost producers in the past.
I guess Man with the Red Face
What I don’t understand about ghost production is… Is it produced for another artist and why? A one time cash deal may not equal to the cash/promotion of your self would. If under a new name like Tiesto with What TST or whatever. I think it’s stupid because 99% of the people know tiesto not TST. Less attention, less revenue, more confusion. Also Hardwell let me know if you want to ghost produce any tracks from me lol.
people, i’m pretty sure the ones who are saying clarity and animals are joking…
Promise land – Bad Dj?
Tommy trash has a ghost producer . Jk that mothafucka is the most unique in the game ! U can definitely point out a tommy trash record ! Deorro as well, unique mothafuckas! Geniuses
It’s just not fair, that people who REALLY PRODUCE their own track, will take a really hard time to make it to the top. Whereby people who someone else produce for you,and you use your name, and you’ll go “hey this is my new track let’s hit it to the top ten” and eventually they did hit it into top ten and stay there for like 3 weeks. It’s hard to trust beatport these days :/
#pantsdown was premiered by hardwell on a gig! not only one opf the other possible tracks was premiered by hardwell! so that means he has to do sth with this song , because if not , he would not have it! aswell the track was planned as a collab between the partysquad and hardwell! but at least a very well known dj said “jardwell took his name ioff the track” ! the wuestion just is , what does mitchell has to do with the track?!
Pallaroid!
I also think #Pantsdown but Row Rocka Gate 9 also sound very familiar
What is this idiot talking about – the beatport top ten sounds like it all came from the same souless guy sat tossing off cheap tunes on Reason. Fucking pitiful state of affairs. Thank god real house music is making a comeback – lets get rid of these fucking dickheads…
