Azealia Banks Gives An “F-You” to Disclosure

Azealia Banks, a rising Hip Hop star, announced in her interview with AU that her highly anticipated collaboration with Disclosure will not appear on her album after they were, as she describes, “like, really rude in an interview”.

It was a session planned out of the blue, simply to make music, as Disclosure stated. Banks seemed to have a different idea as she tweeted excitingly:

It seemed to have taken Disclosure off guard to which they responded: She’s kind of taken to Twitter quite heavily with the fact that she’s meeting with us… People now think that we’ve made the greatest song of all time, and it doesn’t even actually have a chorus yet.”

Call it a buzz kill, but they didn’t believe it deserved all they hype she gave it at the time: “All these blogs think we’ve now made a masterpiece, but really, we just sat there eating sushi.”

It sounds like a big misunderstanding, but either way, Banks refuses to include it on her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste. She said she may leak the collaboration, but claims “I’ve got better stuff on my record… It can be an f-side. A fuck-you side.” It doesn’t look like this relationship will be reconciled at any time soon, especially after Azealia’s harsh comments towards Disclosure. Check out the interviews for yourself below and let us know what you think!

UPDATE: Disclosure has taken the time to respond to Azealia Bank’s claims:

We just wrote the first verse and a build-up—there wasn’t a chorus—and she kind of took it away. Then she thought we were rude in that interview, but we apologized and everything. It didn’t seem to matter that we apologize… We made the beat on the way there in the car, so I don’t give a damn if she uses it. Whatever.

Maybe when I said [in the interview] that she’s ‘taken to it quite heavily’, it came across as rude—but what I meant was that whenever we’ve worked with anyone in the past, we just keep it secret. Because if nothing comes of the session, nobody’s disappointed. But if you build all the hype before, then you have to deliver an amazing song.
