It’s been nearly two years since Your EDM has featured any new material from SAYMYNAME, but that doesn’t mean the hard trap producer hasn’t been blowing up a lot in that time since. Well he’s here now with a new two-track EP called Awakening that has this writer wondering what we’ve been sleeping on.
Coming in with two tracks, “Knockout” and “Break” with B-Sides, the EP showcases SAYMYNAME’s balls to the wall production style as usual, with a serious increase in quality. Hard trap has a tendency of pushing sounds to the limit, but SMN has a knack of getting that super loud sound without completely crushing his audio.
As for “Break,” it has the potential to be one of the truly massive bass songs of 2020. With a suspenseful build up, it drops immediately into a double time banger with wild, stabbing synths before it speeds things up even further. Then it goes into a trap break and finally a dubstep drop to finish things off.
