At the end of 2018, rumors swirled that the Arcadia Spider wouldn’t be returning to Ultra. By March, those rumors has been substantiated, as Resistance Island featured its own array of stages custom built for the festival. Two months later, the Arcadia team began teasing a new stage … Pangea.

Named after the supercontinent that existed 335 to 175 million years ago, the stage is a two-part construction that features a crane and massive, fire-blowing scaffold. Early arrivals to Glastonbury this week were able to get a prime look at the new stage in action. Apart from the flames, one of the main features of the stage is a globe at the base of the crane that will be projection mapped.

Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis described the structure to NME earlier this week, “It’s quite crazy and hard to describe, but it’s going to carry a moon and circumnavigate the Earth which is at the base of the tower. It’s going to have fire and music. You know, a whole line-up of brilliant music and classic Arcadia pyro as well.”

Artists to play the new Arcadia stage will include Charlotte de Witte, The Black Madonna, Four Tet, Andy C, Sub Focus, and more. Check out photos below!
