Best Buy To Stop Selling Physical CDs As of Today

It’s no secret that as far as music consumption goes, physical product is a thing of the past. Somewhere along the way in the mid-2000s, the digital download and iPod made physical CDs obsolete before music streaming came along and in turn made digital downloads obsolete.

Now, we’re firmly in the streaming era and it looks like the last relics of the physical product era are slowly being phased out of mainstream consciousness per this report from Billboard from February that marked yesterday as the last day that Best Buy would carry physical CDs.

Best Buy will continue to stock vinyl though which has been making headlines of late for resurgent year on year growth culminating in its strongest ever years in both Canada and the US since 1991 when Nielsen first started to track vinyl sales.
