The 2017 American Music Awards highlighted some of the very best music and artists of the year, with many of the categories too close to call until the winning name was officially announced…

Favorite Song – Pop/Rock was one of those categories that could have gone any way. The Chainsmokers‘ hit song “Closer” featuring Halsey went up against Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito” featuring Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape of You.”

In the end, “Despacito” came out on top — a well deserved win considering the Latin/American hit has been celebrated as one of the biggest global songs of all time.

For the 2017 AMAs, icons went head-to-head with newcomers and record breakers, to reveal the top picks in pop, rock, EDM, hip hop, and more. Congrats to The Chainsmokers, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, DJ Khaled, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee and many more artists that celebrated wins tonight!
