Major Lazer Collaborates With Bacardi For New Custom Rum Blend

Major Lazer’s whole identity revolves around the Caribbean and tropical drinks and dance hall music, so if they had to collaborate with any liquor, it had to be Bacardi.

Though this isn’t quite at the level of Richie Hawtin making and curating his own sake, it’s still pretty cool. The collaboration comes as a result of Major Lazer’s influence and passion for the Caribbean and everything it has to offer. The new collaboration is a completely new blend, made with direct input from Major Lazer’s Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire and the Bacardi maestros de ron.

The blend is described as “having a warm, silky body with tropical fruit, cedar, almond and vanilla notes”; additionally, it’s filtered before and after aging, which has been for a minimum of three years.

“‘Creativity is in our blood. We create music on pretty much a daily basis, but creating our own rum is the stuff of dreams,” said Major Lazer’s Jillionaire. “We’ve worked with Bacardi to create this unique blend, something that we feel really embodies The Sound of Rum and links rum and music in a way that’s never been done before.”

“We’re down with working with people who want to accelerate what we want to do musically, invest in our ideas, and create cultural moments and memories,” Diplo said in a statement. “Bacardí rum has been in the studios with us for ages and is part of the island vibe that inspires our sound, so the partnership comes from a deeper, more meaningful place.”

The exclusive bottling is priced at just $20 and available to purchase via Reserve Bar. It’s been available since June.
