Steve Aoki and Special Guests Celebrate 20 Years of Dim Mak

Love him or hate him, there’s nobody quite like Steve Aoki. Although he’s best known for his cake throwing antics on stage, Aoki has had a remarkable run as both a performer and tastemaker over the past 20 years. Having produced massive singles and a Grammy nominated album, Aoki has the resume to back it up. This past Tuesday he revived his legendary Dim Mak Tuesdays to celebrate his 39th birthday and the 20th anniversary of Dim Mak. And what a party it was.

Taking place at Echoplex in North Los Angeles, the small crowd lucky enough to make it to the party was treated to an incredible show of special guests after Dim Mak residents Them Jeans and Dan Oh performed. Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo of the Bloody Beetroots was the first special guest and he warmed the place up with a pounding electro set. Borgore took the stage next and threw down an absolutely filthy set of bass and dubstep.

Krewella continued the parade of special guests and the Yousaf sisters threw down banger after banger mixed in with acapellas of some of their greatest hits. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed Krewella’s small set. Next up was the highlight of the night for me, none other than Zedd came out to entertain the crowd. Opening up with his slick electro jam “Adrenaline,” Zedd rocked the place. The man of the hour, Steve himself came out to join Zedd as he was closing his set. From there on out, Aoki did what he does best and rocked the crowd. And yes, there was cake.

If you watched Steve’s Netflix documentary, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” you know that Steve only keeps going, he doesn’t stop, you don’t stay relevant for two decades without doing so. Check out Steve’s latest track with Don Diablo x Lush & Simon, “What We Started” below.
