It’s not incredibly often that we hear a remix of Skrillex that lives up to the man’s legacy, but Crankdat has just delivered exactly that. Torquing the alien’s classic collaboration with Sirah, “Weekends” has just been welcomed to the scene once again with open arms.
Crankdat has stayed remarkably true to the soul of the original, refurbishing the track’s 2010 sound design with all the modernity of 2016, and keeping the percussion sharp, the bass heavy, and adding even more bite to the destructive lead. This remix even emulates the vocal processing and repetition favored by Skrillex in his classic productions. Here’s what Crankdat has to say about the remix:
“I originally made this remix at the very end of 2015 but decided to hold off on releasing it until the project had grown. I finished the second drop a few weeks ago and decided it was time to share with you guys. Had it not been for discovering Skrillex, I would not be doing what I am doing today. Here is a tribute to him. Happy Crankday!”
