We thought we debunked the Daft Punk ALIVE 2017 tour rumors, but they just keep growing louder. News of this new website, alive2017.com, popped up earlier this week, though it only began to reach critical mass today, and rumors are it could belong to the notorious robot duo. In the page source, coordinates are listed for the following locations: Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Indio (the location of Coachella). Whether this confirms tour stops at these locations, or a tour of any kind, only time will tell. Check it out below.
Wesbite Genius also found a connection between the final line of the code and Daft Punk: Shep is a character from Daft Punk’s musical movie Interstella 5555.
However something about this just seems too easy. Giving away all the details in an easily accessible page source isn’t exactly Daft Punk’s style. And upon further inspection of the domain, we discovered the website was purchased 3 days after the release of Daft Punk’s collab with The Weeknd, “Starboy.” This only adds to our suspicions that the website might be fake. Not to mention the various discrepancies that the Daft Punk subreddit found in their examination of the website… However we’ll wait for the above 10/27 “Wake Date” to fully confirm the validity of this website. Either way, we’re hoping a 2017 Daft Punk tour is on the menu – whether this site is real or not.
