Compared to Blaqstarr’s remix, Diplo’s version has an undeniably thicker presence, with a hint more grit to combine with M.I.A.’s lyricizing for a more global citizen feel.
Vinyl fuzz ornaments the robust percussion, and holding hands with a sauntering moombah rhythm, we can understand that Diplo’s mix is how “Bird Song” was meant to sound.
