Earlier today, British musician John Newman, known to EDM fans for his collaborations with Rudimental and Calvin Harris, confirmed to NME that his brain tumour had indeed returned confirming earlier reports from various sources.
The timing couldn’t be worse with John Newman currently promoting his new Calvin Harris-produced single “Olé” and laying the groundwork for his forthcoming third studio album, but it appears that he’ll need to take some time off of music to focus on his health.
“The medical staff have been absolutely amazing and I know I am in the best of hands. Nothing will ever stop me from doing the job I love so much, nothing will ever stop me from making music. People shouldn’t worry about me, the prognosis is good and there are so many people in far more serious situations.”
He added: “I just hope this in some way helps raise awareness for those people and encourages people to be tested and treated as early as possible. I am one of the lucky ones!”
Four years ago, the singer had a benign tumour removed and since then has gone on to be nominated for three BRIT Awards including British Male Solo Artist.
