If there’s one producer we just can’t ever get enough of, it’s the French mistress of low-end, CloZee. Her unique and expressive approach to music-making has generated some of the best mid-tempo glitch we’ve heard in years and cemented her status as a pioneer of the bass music scene. Engaging and intricate, melodic and emotional; her creations always come as a breath of fresh air, and her recently released Revolution EP was no exception. The production was pristine; and now, we get to experience it all over again.
Featuring 10 completely re-imagined tracks, Revolution Remixed adds a whole new dimension to the musical journey contained within the original album. Icons of the underground like Ill Gates and David Starfire make appearances alongside rising stars such as Spoken Bird, CharlesTheFirst, Sixis, and several others, generating a truly eclectic bundle of sonic delights. Bass is certainly the name of the game here, with dubstep, glitch hop, and atmospheric downtempo all well represented. There’s even an electro remix from down-under duo, Electrocado, thrown in for the fans of four-on-the-floor; with a fidgety bass-line reminiscent of early Porter Robinson and a deliberate progression into more relaxed territories, it turned out to be one of our favorite tracks on the album. From uptempo to downtempo and everywhere in-between, each of the remixers absolutely knocked their project out of the park; everyone managed to seamlessly fuse their personal styles with the vibes contained in CloZee‘s originals, making for a release that is quality through and through.
Best of all, Revolution Remixed, is available as a name-your-price download via the esteemed Gravitas Recordings. You can grab the album for free or support the label with a donation on their Bandcamp; the full stream can be found after the jump. Happy listening!
