A metric f*ckton of new music was dropped yesterday. From Calvin Harris and Rihanna, to the new Axwell Λ Ingrosso vocal track, to Drake’s new album, to Pouya’s album, April 29 2016 was a big day. To add to that, Zedd & Kesha finally released their collaboration on “True Colors” yesterday. But it doesn’t seem like everyone is happy about it.
Kesha has been in the news for the past year for her heated legal battle with ex-manager and producer Luke “Dr. Luke” Gottwald. The legal proceedings and her contract have prevented her from releasing any new music, yet somehow Interscope and RCA/Kemosabe found a middle ground and allowed Kesha to feature on Zedd’s track. Dr. Luke doesn’t seem all too pleased.
Thanks for the clarification @Zedd …

The sarcastic tweet is something that could have just as well been left unsaid, yet Dr. Luke’s insistence on replying could spell a deeper misgiving of his client’s artistic motivations. Luke’s shade was not taken well by the Kesha or Zedd fandom. Rather than accept that his artist is finally experiencing a revival of her career, he found it more pressing to make a snide remark on how this release was completely kosher.
Kesha will have to testify under oath in June about her relationship with Gottwald, after she was subpoenaed.
