One of our favorite up-and-comers, Justin Jay, is getting ready to hit the road again, and this time, he’s bringing along some friends for his massive, two continent Fantastic Voyage tour. The LA native has long been a fixture in the underground dance scene, delivering stand-out performances at Coachella, CRSSD, and more, while building his catalog of tech house anthems with releases like Mom, I Graduted and “Karma” under dirtybird and Black Butter Records respectively. On top of growing his impressive artist profile, the rising star has also been an integral member of the Los Angeles nightlife world, starting his silly party concept brand through a number of LA house parties right in his own backyard that has grown to become a world tour.
The youngest dirtybird phenom will be joined on his Fantastic Voyage tour by his college best friends-turned-collaborators, Josh Taylor and Benny Bridges, who were featured on Justin Jay & Friends, Justin’s side project that was recently premiered. The tour embodies the house party ethos that has come to define Justin Jay and his music – an all-around great time with great friends and great music – and the Fantastic Voyage tour is sure to deliver on all counts.
In celebration of his tour, Justin shared how the concept was born, saying, “Over the past couple of months, I started throwing a bunch of house parties in LA. House parties are really special for DJ’s because we can play songs we normally never get to play: from the tracks that are too weird and quirky for the big clubs/festivals, to the songs that are too cheesy and feel good for the cool-kid warehouse shindigs.
I like pushing myself to play crazy forward thinking music, but by the end of the night, I also want everyone (including myself) smiling, laughing and having a good time. Sometimes the songs that make me smile the biggest are also cool in their own cheesy way.
