In 2014, we named Kygo as one of our “artists to watch” for the following year. Well 2015 has nearly come and gone, and Kygo has proven his mettle as one of the most sought after, most successful, and most popular artists of the year. Most recently, Spotify announced that Kygo was their Top Breakout Artist of 2015.
Kygo is neither the most streamed, nor does he even have the most viral track; a top breakout artist as defined by Spotify is “the first Spotlight artist to reach one billion streams,” on his tracks “Firestone” and “Stole The Show.” 
Kygo said “2015 has been a crazy year for me, and Spotify have supported me right from the start. It’s an honour to be their Breakout Artist of the year, and I’m super excited to see what we can do together in 2016!”
