Berlin Artist Creates A Mobile, Armored Tank Of Sound

If you’re like me, you probably love your home speakers more than life itself and tuck them into bed every night after reading them a story. With their pristine quality and wall-rattling sub bass, it doesn’t surprise me when my downstairs neighbors bang on the ceiling and contact our landlord (seriously). The one thing that they’re missing however, is war machine-esque mobility and metal-plated armor that could strike fear into the hearts of even the bravest warriors.

Luckily, Berlin-based artist Nik Nowak has solved the problem with the creation of his SoundTank, a sleek piece of equipment that looks to be taken straight out of Mad Max. The tank comes outfitted with four tweeters, six 12-inch drivers and three 8-inch subs.

According to Stoney Roads, it can emit 4,000 watts of sound, which is 200 times louder than the average household speakers.

The SoundTank is also equipped with a native synthesizer, mixer and drum machine for productions on the move. The entire shell can even be flipped upwards to face the monitors forward.

Watch the SoundTank in action below, as Nowak uses live sampling of the acoustic environment to create deadly, dark noises.
