Selena Gomez Calls Out Diplo About Relationship With Zedd

Celebrity relationships are tricky. The promise of a new high-profile romance sends fans in a frenzy, but when it conveniently cools off after their project is complete, it leaves a sour taste in our mouths. Just months ago we were all enamored by the budding relationship between Zedd and pop starlet Selena Gomez, who made headlines with their coupling which ended in April. The pair were spotted at mansion parties and were side by side during awards season, just around the time the pair released their collaboration “I Want You To Know.” The track was an instant hit and created an incredible buzz just in time for Zedd’s sophomore album True Colors in May which suggests that his short relationship with Selena was nothing more than a big PR stunt.

Not one to shy away from keepin it real, EDM mogul Diplo called out the German DJ in a radio interview this month for his romance with the singer, saying that it was all just a marketing scheme by Zedd’s label Interscope to generate more sales for the single and his album. It’s hard to find fault in Diplo’s call-out, especially when “I Want You To Know” topped the Billboard charts and Zedd gained a lot of new fans for the track. But one person who wasn’t a fan of Diplo’s suggestion was Selena herself, who fired back today on a New Zealand radio show.

It’s very interesting that Diplo would think he knew about my personal life, but he doesn’t. I adore Anton (Zedd) a lot and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice.

I would love to side with Selena, I really would, but the timeline reads more like a PR proposal than an actual relationship. Regardless, what’s done is done and Zedd is enjoying the spoils with a top selling album and adoration of teens across the world before his North American True Colors Tour this fall, while Diplo is added to another person’s shit list.
