Alesso rocked the scene when he released his latest original, “Cool,” and did it again when he released the original video to accompany it. I wasn’t a fan at first, but as I listened to it a few more times, it grew on me just a bit. Still, I don’t know… it felt a bit shallow to me. Not only the message, but the music and sound itself, too. I’m probably in a minority who thinks that way, but I don’t mind. Music is subjective, right?
Then, I was sent an official remix by Sweater Beats and woah. Finally, I could listen to this track over and over and over again and never have to worry about tearing my hair out. The young producer warped, molded and crafted this remix so meticulously and it shows in every little rhythm and beat. The addition of rolling hi-hats in the build, the replacement of the lead synth with horns in the drop, the new future bass bassline, and the modulation of the vocals all contributed to making this remix 1000% better than the original.
Props have to be given to Alesso for giving Sweater Beats something to work with in the first place, but come on… Sweater Beats knocked it out of the park with this one. The remix will be released by Def Jam Recordings on April 13th.
