Welcome to another packed edition of Your EDM‘s weekly Tech Selections series, where we showcase the best in Tech House and Techno! This week, we start off nice and slow with a great Deep House gem by underground hero, Rodriguez Jr., before heating things up with some brutal Techno cuts, courtesy of upcoming producers Anti-Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N. and guru Matt Mus. 1. Rodriguez Jr.- Niagadina (Original Mix) [mobilee]
I had the chance to see Rodriguez Jr. when he decided to pop over to the legendary Brookyn after hours club of Output, and I can personally say that this guy is definitely the real deal. His sets, (and his productions), are very smart and cutting edge, and his visionary expertise lies hidden within his special mix of smooth grooves and continuous track progressions. In Niagadina, decadent Deep House themes meet head on with a pioneering sense of musical responsibility, as he takes the time to not only please those who are aesthetically looking for aural pleasure, but also maintains a solid groove that is both unshakable and undeniable. Definitely our top track of the week.

2. TouchTalk & Tolkien 32- Got To Go (Original Mix) [Zero Eleven Music]
House music has been splintering off into many different directions within the past few years, and many artists have been branching out into some Chicago influenced Tech House that serves as a pseudo-revitalization of the mighty era that was Chicago House music. In TouchTalk & Tolkien 32‘s Got To Go, a continually pumping groove moves through like clockwork while urban vocals and a slick bassline offers a rocking vibe that’s hard to not shake your legs to. Check out the middle of the preview during the first break to catch some WICKED sub bass work; definitely grip onto your seat!

3. Oscar De Rivera- Test Taboo (Original Mix) [Stereo Productions]
For our next track, we head on over to the loco territories over at Stereo Productions, where the lagendary masterminds of Chus & Ceballos have taken the world by storm with their Tribal infused Iberican movement. These two definitely have a talent for locating special tracks that translate well into the mystical ‘Ibiza’ sound, and many of their artists have deep, musical roots within the Latin based community. In Oscar De Rivera‘s Test Taboo, a gripping jungle vibe is instantly established through an abundance of well tuned percussion instruments and the constantly busy bodywork is enough to ignite any party into overdrive.

4. Anti Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N.- Mondo (Original Mix) [IAMT]
I first fell in love with these two rising producers when they released their Tech House flavored single of Original B-Boy, (with the MASSIVE Ant Brooks remix in tow), and I have since been following their progress throughout the years. Since then, they have opted to head towards the Techno route with recent singles such as Disrupt on Deeperfect Records and Drumfired on Bitten. Their past single to be featured on Spartaque‘s label, IAMT, is a colossal chugger that slams hard on the basslines with slice ‘n dice hi hats in tow, (alongside some classically tuned Techno ostinatos). Definitely check out the breaks on this one; they made sure to squeeze as much potential energy as possible in order to maximize the resulting effects of their drops.

5. Lexem & Matt Mus- Black Shadows (Original Mix) [Dolma Records]
Many consider Techno to be a dark and mysterious, rhythmic genre that encompasses the sounds of Drumcode, CLR, Phobiq and more, but there is a hidden layer of the genre that focuses on the colossal might of Techno rather than relies on constant groove and consistent energy. This is the Techno that masters such as Len Faki, Pfirter and Alex Di Stefano live for, and their masterful sets are designed to crush its audience under its autonomously immense weight. In Lexem & Matt Mus‘ collaboration of Black Shadows, overly pressurized basslines quickly envelop the listener as artillery synths/timbres seek to shoot down any lasting survivors. Huge work here.

6. Sebastian Leger- Diamond Bridge (Original Mix) [1605]
Sebastian Leger has always been known as a bold producer who is willing to bend and even break the boundaries of certain genre classifications, and his projects are always a treat to listen to when spun in a set. In his funky single of Diamond Bridge on UMEK‘s 1605 imprint, he combines many elements of Progressive House, Progressive Tech, Tech House and Funk into a fierce and fiery track that is both intelligent and grooving within a tight-lipped package. In the official track description, they make note that this single was highly influenced by video games and arcade machines, and the unorthodox pull of this particular influence has definitely panned out into a super stellar piece. Hot.
