HARD Summer returns to southern California this August with a brand new venue. Due to construction on the Los Angeles State Historic part last year, the festival was forced to relocate to Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, about 20 minutes east of DTLA in South El Monte. It was a much smaller venue than in previous years, and the stages suffered because of it. Based on the previous HARD events, I was expecting a much grander representation of showmanship and lights and sound – alas, space was not kind to HARD Events and the stages had to be downsized a bit.
In the end it didn’t matter though, as it seemed the money that would have gone to the stages went to the artists instead. It might have been the best year for music that HARD has pulled off yet.
This year, HARD Summer will relocate once again to the site of last year’s Day Of The Dead, the Fairplex in Pomona. It’s a large, sprawling venue that was enough for five stages last Halloween (though the Purple stage was much smaller than the rest, crammed between Harder and Pink stages).
Early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow at 12 PM PST – and if you know HARD, you know that means the lineup isn’t far behind.
