If you enjoy listening to radio rips of your favorite tracks on Soundcloud, there’s a good chance you’ve heard Zane Lowe‘s voice before. The BBC Radio 1 presenter has been among elite company for the past 13 years , curating dance music alongside legends like Pete Tong, Annie Mac, and others. He’s been responsible for bits like “Masterpieces,” “The Hottest Record in the World Today,” and “Zane Lowe Meets.” However, his time at BBC has come to and end. Today news broke that Lowe will be leaving the broadcasting titan to join Apple starting next month. According to BBC’s report:

The New Zealand DJ and radio host joined BBC Radio in 2002, and airs his show weekdays from 7-9pm. Over the course of his career he’s not only played the tunes of dance music’s biggest stars before they were big, but he’s also had stars like Jay-Z and and Coldplay on his show as well. Lowe’s show has also won him many awards and nominations including “Best Radio Show” four times at the NMEs, an annual awards show in Britain. He is also an accomplished musician. His career not only includes appearances at Coachella and Creamfields, but he’s been direct support for the likes of The Foo Fighters, Skrillex, and was even nominated for a Grammy as a writer on Sam’s Smith‘s album In the Lonely Hour. Many artists from all over the world have began to speak out on social media, thanking Lowe for his support and wishing him the best of luck at Apple. Zane Lowe’s final broadcast on BBC Radio 1 will be Thursday, March 5.
