Chillage Records is easily one of the most exciting new labels on the West Coast. The output of their artists is as prolific as it is fresh; each of them brings their own unique flair to their production. And while this talent is showcased on both individual releases as well as the established Crunksauce compilation series, it’s still not enough to contain all the goodness this clan of bass-hustlers and beat-freaks churns out.
Enter The Goop Chronicles, a second compilation series curated by the good people of Chillage. It’s dedicated to remixes of hip-hop & RnB tunes and features some of the label’s most champion music makers. Urple Eeple, Spoken Bird, Megowan, Elevated Mind, and more make appearances on the compilation, providing a diverse mix of dance floor shakers and bedroom bumping, baby-making music. With remixes of everyone from Disclosure to Dr. Dre on deck, there’s definitely something in here for everyone and we highly suggest giving these tunes a listen. A new collaboration between Elevated Mind and Spoken Bird, Mind Speak pulled no punches on this tune. Remixing Aaliyah is a bold move, but these two made it look (and sound) easy; her gorgeous vocals mesh perfectly with the duo’s blend of resonant bass lines and subtle, wavering synth melodies.
