Giorgio Moroder is a legend. There’s no two ways about it. From basically birthing disco/synth music, to his new forthcoming album – his first in 30 years – things are looking up for the 74-year-old Italian. Even so much that Disney has taken notice.
In an interview with Clash earlier this month, Moroder revealed that he would be working on the soundtrack to the new Tron video game, based off of the latest installation in the series, Tron: Legacy. That’s not even the best part, though. Fellow soundtrack and weird-sound creator Skrillex will be helping out.
“We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs,” Moroder told Clash.
I’ve heard a lot of great soundtracks come out from games, and even albums based on soundtracks from games, but this is going to be something especially unique and spectacular. The world and setting of Tron allows for near endless possibilities with regards to production, and no matter what platform this game comes out on, I’ll likely get it (if it’s good). 
Moroder was reticent to give details on a potential soundtracking gig for a film whose name he did not mention. “I have an offer to do a big movie,” he offered. “I cannot tell you what, but it’s… not a 150 million dollars but a big movie, big production” (past movies scored by Moroder include Scarface, American Gigolo, and Flashdance).
