Late last year, EDM sensation and sure-fire-hit factory Calvin Harris released his fourth studio album Motion which saw singles like “Under Control”, “Blame”, and “Summer” skyrocket on the Billboard charts. A little over three months and the star-studded album continues to push out as many singles as it can (much like his last album 18 Months) with the last one being the vocal edit of “C.U.B.A.” known as “Open Wide” featuring Big Sean. But it looks like Calvin is already prepping the next single with a full preview of a new collaborative remix.
The Scottish producer and DJ listed on his SoundCloud account a new remix of his track featuring Haim called “Pray To God” that he worked on with a legend from the world of 1980s and 1990s rave scene. Known by many as Mike Pickering, he was the man behind the dance music groups M People and Quando Quango as well as the entertainment for the infamous club the Haçienda. He was most well known for hosting the Manchecter club’s “Nude” and “Hot” events during the nightclub’s life until it closed in 1997.
Although Calvin Harris enlists a man from before EDM was even coined as a term, Mike Pickering proves his production talent in the modern era of dance music. Both icons take Calvin’s original indie dance tune and flip it around into a groovy house track. Complete with bouncy hi hats and warm basslines, the new remix of “Pray To God” has a full preview off of Calvin’s SoundCloud with a lack of details regarding a future release. What we can hope is that this song is released as part of a remix package in the coming months. Until then, enjoy it and let us know what you think of it.
