I always, always confuse Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence. Not in physical appearance obviously, but seeing either name written down, I’m oddly never sure which one is being talked about until I go in for some context. Even receiving this story this morning, having clearly read “Jennifer Lawrence,” because it was a song, my mind immediately lept to Jennifer Hudson. But in fact, this really is Jennifer Lawrence, star of The Hunger Games, whose voice is featured and in fact sampled and focused on for this dope remix by Nezzo.
JLaw has a track called “The Hanging Tree” on the Mockingjay Pt 1 soundtrack and while the original is somber and melancholic, the remix from Nezzo is quite energetic and takes heavy influence from electro and French house. The score for the original is done by James Newton Howard, and while there is no piano present in the original, Nezzo decided to throw some in to mirror the original chord progression from the strings and give it a slightly more electronic vibe. We’d say he’s done a damn fine job.
