Like all music scenes, electronic dance music has plenty of systemic problems within. One such problem was recorded at this year’s Stereosonic and attained viral spread across the Internet. The video shows a group of both shirtless and tank-top wearing bros taking swings at each other dealing serious damage to themselves and the innocent bystanders around them.
One of the most damaging responses to this incident came from a Sunshine Coast journalism student named Joel Bevilacqua. In his glorious rant, Joel takes all sorts of jabs at the people in the video who made a little push and shove a bigger problem than it had to be. Even after over fifty-thousand Facebook likes on the post, his words continue to ring loud and clear. 
This video and the rant were so upsetting and influential that one of the co-founders of Stereosonic Frank Cotelo voiced his displeasure with not just what occurred but his entire vexation on bro culture.
Although Mr. Cotela may have come off a little strong in stating that there will be more “extensive profiling” at the festival, it is fantastic to know that Stereosonic will be more involved with preventing issues with massive, violent attendants in the future.

I know it’s kinda wrong, I know it’s also kinda sad for the whole scene, but profiling on some events is never enough. You can just see in some people’s faces “I’m not here to enjoy the music/festival, I’m here to fucking show off”.
The saddest part about this video for me is the fact that they are missing Showteks set.

Not exclusively “Meat Heads.” Thats why Trance is so awesome. Great fans, great vibes, uplifting energy and not many “Bros” Now on the contrary, I do take pride in my appearance, and i do go to the gym. I’m sure from looking at me, people would call me a bro. Hell i even say “bro” all the time. But i am not looking for fights. I’m looking for musical inspiration. So in a way the author is making a pretty ignorant statement….. Yes there are “Roided out D-bags”. Is everyone with no shirt on who’s huge looking for a fight though?…. Really?
This is an ignorant statement from it seems to be from a person that was bullied a lot in his life. Not every person that has pride in their body is a ” Douche Bag ” Its stereotyping. The last time I checked there where plenty of out of shape guys walking around shirtless or with tank tops on at festivals. Not every guy that is in good shape ( and since when is this bad thing ) is an asshole. I know plenty of fat assholes too. So stop hating and stereotyping.
I think Mr. Cotela’s post is absolutely spot on! Multiple times have my concert experiences been brought down because of some jacked-up guy who thinks he can do whatever he wants because (judging by the message on his shirt) “Eat, sleep, f*ck, repeat”, or because of his biceps that happen to be two or three times as thicker as mine. It’s these kind of people that bring an incredibly negative aspect to the electronic music scene. Furthermore, with the occasional pushes and shoves in the masses, when you even graze one of these things, they get mad, stick their chest out, and yell at the top of their lungs: “Come at me bro”! It’s despicable.
what i love and hate most about this videa is the fact that girls are getting in the middle, they aren’t getting pulled into it, no they are intentionally putting themselves in danger of getting hurt just to pulled these meatheads apart from each other. These girls are not as big as these guys physically and yet they seem to have bigger balls than every single person in the fight and every person standing by and watching it.
