Among the many reasons I respect Skrillex, the one that stands out to me the most is probably the fact that he’s got his ear to the ground constantly. He has grown his OWSLA label into quite the juggernaut because he knows before many others who will be big. In an AMA on reddit, Skrillex singled out bass-producer Trollphace and essentially kickstarted his career. Now, new information has come to light regarding the recent Ease My Mind / Ragga Bomb Remixes EP that recently leaked early on iTunes. Jai Wolf, a rising star, got onto the EP purely by luck.
“I found this remix after I got a tweet from someone saying, ‘Hey check out this bootleg some kid did,'” Skrillex told FADER about the Jai Wolf remix of his Niki and the Dove-featuring Recess track “Ease My Mind” that’s premiering below. “I flipped out immediately and it’s been in my sets ever since.”
I would never put it past Skrillex to put a dope sounding track in his sets, even by a lesser-known producer. He and I share that mentality: if it’s good, it’s good.
