Unifying different cultures with his astonishing brand of Trance music, there is no one else who has carried an entire subgenre of Trance than the Balearic master that is Roger Shah, whose 20+ year tenure has earned him the reputation as one of the greatest Trance talents of the past and present. While producing over 500 different releases throughout his decorated career, he also closely works alongside the legendary Disney Studios, and is slated to release anticipatory material for feature films in 2015. As the sole leader behind the iconic Balearic movement, (which aptly represents the sun drenched culture of Ibiza), his celebrated Sunlounger alias has gifted us with amazing classics such as Lost featuring the lovely vocals of Zara, Try To Love and Acapulco Waves. Last year, Shah was quite busy with his Sunlounger alias with the release of his critically acclaimed Chillout album entitled Balearic Beauty, which featured great, relaxing tracks with vocalists such as Chase, Jorg Stenzel and Suzie Del Vecchio. However, one of the album’s most memorable pieces was a superb vocal collaboration with NYC based lyricist JES on Glitter And Gold, and its mezmorizing pad work and cool, laid back percussions brought about the best in dusk time moments on the powdery shores of Ibiza. Now, this fantastic Chillout piece is being revitalized for 2014 with a brand new set of remixes from Denis Sender, Roger Shah and Pedro Del Mar & Beatsole, and while the former did receive support on Armin van Buuren‘s ASOT radio show, it is the latter that has definitely caught our eye here at Your EDM.
As the brother of Roger Shah and head managing director of Shah‘s stellar record label, Shah-Music, Pedro Del Mar is well known for consistant, quality Trance within today’s turbulent times in the scene. With 3 different album releases in 2012, as well as collaborations with some of the greatest, upcoming artists in today’s scene, (such as Richard Durand, Spark7 and Illitheas), his supreme reputation as a veteran within the Trance scene is all but solidified. Now, he has teamed up with regular Magik Muzik contributer, Beatsole, on a brand new collaborative remix to Glitter & Gold that really has us buzzing in anticipation. With a fantastic, upcoming Uplifting single entitled Pianophoria to be released on Black Hole Recordings, it looks like the future for these established, yet hidden talents are destined to rival even the greatest levels of Trance talent in the world. For their first outing, their stunning clarity shines clear on their impeccable bassline work, as it is some of the most impressive sounds that we have heard all year. Their sterile, driving style within their class orchestration allows the vocals of JES to breathe at a crisp, clear volume and each and every word is pressed upon the mind with increasing conviction and understanding. Both of these two producers are great on their own, but together, their combined talents are surprisingly beautiful, as their flowing, euphoric melodies shine with a certain brilliance that allows the melodic material to glow with a vivid, rosy sheen.
Pedro Del Mar & Beatsole have completely surprised us with their first collaborative remix to Sunlounger & JES’ Glitter & Gold, and if this type of quality is going to become their branded sound, then we can’t wait to see where they will go from here.
