As one of the real OG’s of bass music, we have a high standard for Mayhem‘s releases. Just as we try to define what to expect from him, he comes around and launches the next level original “Take Off.” As a rare solo endeavor, we get to check out what flavor Mayhem adds to his many collaborative projects. “Take Off” utilizes the uptempo trap approach to get the beat rolling in the first 32 bars, which is complimented by southern style brass and constantly rising synths. Mayhem then takes it to the drop with a pitch flopping lead that keeps the track playful, yet compliments the hardness of the 808s. The track is available as a free download but if you’re doing it right, head over to iTunes and show your support so we can encourage Mayhem to put out more solo releases in 2015.
