If you had asked me before the pandemic what I thought a musical trend going forward would be, a disco revival would not have been on my list. However, that’s just where we find ourselves in 2023, with the oft-derided 70s genre seeing a massive rebirth.
Case in point, LP Giobbi making her Defected Records debut with “Giodisco.” The title of the track is self-explanatory, the Femme House boss lady is going full disco on this one, and it’s a sheer delight. The beat and rhythm are tight, the disco synths are on point, and LP’s live pianos give the track a certain vibrancy.
