Matt Barri Unveils Electro Pop Anthem, “I’m In Space When You’re Worlds Apart”

Matt Barri is an artist who has steadily won us over with his mesmerizing talent and raw sound that’s completely unique to him. As a performer, he has DJ’d internationally and domestically as direct support for such artists as Steve Aoki, Lil Jon and Wooli. He’s also written original music for various documentaries, industrials and even dabbled in sound design for consumer products and toys.

Now, he’s back with an electrifying anthem, “I’m In Space When You’re Worlds Apart,” that blends pop punk influence with euphoric future bass elements that hit you right in the feels. It encompasses a gripping emo-esque vocal that grips you right away as Barri flexes his songwriting and production abilities in a flurry of emotive melodies.

“This song is a goodbye letter to my friends. After 6 months at ICON Collective, everyone from my class was sent home due to the pandemic. Around September 2020 there were tons of wildfires around Los Angeles and the whole world felt apocalyptic. I wrote this song for my songwriting final but snuck in a message to my friends during the bridge to say goodbye. Originally it was a ballad, but a year later I re-adapted the lyrics with a more upbeat and electro production. I wanted to celebrate the unsure and hopeless feeling moments, and the overcoming of them.” – Matt Barri
