Sultan + Shepard Release Comprehensive New Album, “Forever, Now”

It’s been a long and steady road for Sultan + Shepard. The Canadian duo, who have been actively releasing songs since 2007, have just released their latest album “Forever, Now.” The duo’s latest project sees them settle into a nice space where they can release melodic progressive house songs, as well as a couple of club bangers to keep the party going. Releasing on Lane 8’s This Never Happened Imprint, Sultan + Shepard clearly know their target sound and audience.

The first five tracks of the album fall well within the This Never Happened lane; the tracks are bright and melodic progressive house, that’s probably better suited for driving rather than the dance floor. The album takes a turn at Track 6, “Neptune” which is a powerful blend of uplifting progressive house. The synths continue to build and never stop in this energetic standout. The next couple of tracks straddle that line between light melodic house and more melody driven progressive.

That is until we get to “RnR,” arguably the best track on the album, and dark and smoldering progressive house tune that evokes feelings of a late, late night (or early morning). “RnR” has a completely different vibe from the first side of the album and takes listeners on an unexpected journey. The rest of the album continues to straddle the line between light melodic house and a more mysterious underground groove. Another track that stands out is “Concorde” with its classic trance melody and synths.

Make sure to check out the latest from Sultan + Shepard, “Forever, Now” out now on This Never Happened. Ned and Ossama are currently on the road for an extensive North American tour. Make sure to check them out if they visit your city.
