Nicky Romero keeps the hits coming, this time under his Monocule alias, with “Awakening.” “Awakening is a super dark track that is tailor-made for the rave; featuring a spoken word interlude from British singer/songwriter Sarah De Warren, this one features all of the best of Monocule. Rumbling bass, melodic synths, a dark and brooding tone, all in one tight package.
The track opens up with layers of synth notes and some light percussion before the drum buildup takes us to the next part of the song. There’s that rumbling bassline along with some drum slaps for nice effect. The song just keeps chugging along until we get to the drop that has some lighter, more melodic synths in the mix. After another run through, we drop into the spoken word portion. If your party is going late into the AM, this track will get you through it.
