There’s something very special about live music and people coming together to experience it.
As soon as this show was announced a few months ago, Seattle was buzzing with anticipation for Diplo’s very own Higher Ground event to step foot in the city. Thanks to the new partnership between the legendary Disco Donnie Presents & Seattle’s very own Upper Left Presents, the Emerald city got to witness an absolutely stacked lineup of DJ’s in a beautiful outside location on a perfect, sunny day.

As soon as we stepped foot on the grounds, the most prevalent emotion was the joy everybody had to be together, to dance together again, and experience what turned out to be an unforgettable show. There were countless people hugging, high-fiving, taking pictures together, and making new friends. The smiles on people’s faces were contagious; you couldn’t help but feel overcome by the love and happiness radiating throughout the venue.
A few delicious food trucks lined the outer rim of the venue, along with a free water bottle refill station, bathrooms, and room to either join the crowd or observe at an elevated point. Care Collective, who provides harm reduction services at events, had a tent set up giving out free water, hand sanitizer, masks, and helping cool people off with water spritzers. Everywhere we looked, people were dressed in amazing outfits, vibing to the music, cheering on the DJ, or hanging with friends.

The lineup was immaculate, consisting of really talented artists like Subset, LP Giobbi, Dirtybird’s VNSSA, Walker & Royce, Dom Dolla (who is having an incredible year), and to top it off, Diplo. Each artist brought their utmost effort, delivering fantastic and diverse sets. Whether it was LP Giobbi playing the keys, Walker & Royce dropping some absolutely wild tracks, or Diplo rocking the crowd with electrifying edits and originals, the crowd roared back with with cheers and enthusiasm. To cap off his encore, Diplo even played a Macklemore track as a nod to the Seattle crowd.

This show marks the very first event for Disco Donnie & Upper Left and can’t help but leave us feeling excited for what they will plan next in Seattle. It’s also clear to see the effort they made in creating a safe and healthy space at the event so that fans and artists alike can continue to come together.
