Ekonovah Debuts on Space Yacht with Fantastic New EP Floating

Space Yacht has their newest artist release on their label, and in rare fashion, it’s an EP. Arizona singer-songwriter-producer Ekonovah debuts on the label with Floating, a flawlessly produced, vibey and ethereal jaunt that will, as the title suggests, have you floating for a blissful eight and a half minutes. Floating marks a departure for Ekonovah, after having mostly produced heavy bass records for the club, he decided to shift to more personal and melodic sounds during the pandemic.

The EP opens with the stark title track. It sets the tone for the rest of the EP, it’s got elements of vocal deep house, with a bass-house inspired drop. It’s vibey, but energetic enough that it would work just as well in a club as it would at a pool party. We’re also treated to Ekonovah’s dreamy vocals off in the distance, kind of like how ZHU mixes vocals, without the falsetto.

The next track is the decidedly more bouncy “All Around Me”. It still maintains the airy, ethereal vibe of the EP, but “All Around Me” definitely slaps harder. This one will have you yearning to be in a packed and sweaty club. The bassline is tight on this one. Finally, the EP wraps up with “Not So Subtle”. As you might expect from the title, this one’s got kind of a cheeky vibe to it, but it maintains all the production elements that make Floating a cohesive piece of work. Here’s what Ekonovah had to say about the making of this EP.

“I am SO glad that my Floating EP is finally here. Oh my goodness. This EP is hands down my favorite body of work I’ve made so far. It took me about a year and a half to lock in these tracks just right; it was worth the long wait for me. I love this EP so much because it captures two sides of me. I really hope people like the new styles!”
