The Chemical Brothers Drop Hallucinogenic New Single “The Darkness That You Fear” [LISTEN]

The Chemical Brothers return with an emotive and boundlessly creative new single, “The Darkness That You Fear” via Republic Records.

The six-time GRAMMY Award-winning duo consisting of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons grace us with their presence in their first music drop of 2021. A dazzling production, the musical composition of “The Darkness That You Fear” comes across unexpected and abstract. The track evolves in innovative ways throughout a four-minute journey that feels more like a lifetime of experiences than a single piece of music.

Per the song’s press release, “TDTYF” is “built around two distinct and disparate vocal samples and a woozy swirl of psychedelic sound. It’s the “sonic equivalent of light at the end of the tunnel — a rush of hope and a pointer towards a brighter, more open future.”

Tom Rowlands shares of the new release:

“The Darkness That You Fear” is a hopeful piece of music. When we found the combination of the different voices worked set to the flow of the music, it made us feel optimistic — like it was something we wanted to share.

The “wildly hallucinogenic and beautifully evocative” music video is directed by Ruffmercy. Experience the dynamic audio/visuals of “The Darkness That You Fear” right here.
