Ferry Corsten and Ruben de Ronde Team Up For New 80s Inspired Single “Bloodstream”

Last week, Ferry Corsten posted a photoshopped picture of him with hair that’s straight out of an episode of Miami Vice. The caption simply read “Having an 80s throwback Saturday night.” I had a good laugh and wondered what was behind the post, if nothing else than comedy. Then I got the promotional copy for his new single “Bloodstream” with Ruben de Ronde, and everything made sense!

From the very first synth note of “Bloodstream” the 80s vibes are apparent. It’s a dark, brooding melody with a haunting vocal. The drums and bassline propel the song forward as we go soaring along with the vocals. The beat and synth-work immediately evoke a feeling of a late night drive. After the first chorus there’s a nifty synth riff the further cements the 80s throwback status of the track.

“Bloodstream” is the second single of 2021 for Ferry Corsten, and is the first release of the year for Ruben de Ronde. The two make a natural pairing as they’ve been spending plenty of time together in the A State of Trance studio. Here’s what each had to say about “Bloodstream.”

“I have toured with Ruben many times throughout the years, and we have started working together a lot more closely since last year during A State Of Trance. During these times we’ve had lengthy conversations about music and what genres resonate with us. I have always liked Ruben’s take on the deeper sound and it was only a matter of time before we would hit the studio together. I am very pleased with the result here. It really is the deep, melodic and very emotive track I had hoped for. And David’s voice is the cherry on the cake. Hopefully this will be the first of many collabs to come.” -FC

“Ferry has always been a huge inspiration, especially in the beginning of my career, so it’s great to work with him. It’s been a big highlight through these weird months. I also really like the path Ferry has taken music-wise, moving towards more progressive sounds, which is more fitting with my style. I think we have really put both our sounds in there, and David delivered a fantastic vocal for the track.” – RdR
