R3HAB, Timmy Trumpet and W&W all just teamed up for a huge festival banger, “Distant Memory.” Just seeing all those names together makes us dream for festival season (which is coming back!). While each of these artists are familiar with each other in one way or another, this is the first time all three have featured on the same track. R3HAB and Timmy Trumpet recently collaborated on “911.” Timmy Trumpet, likewise, collaborated with W&W back in 2019 on “Tricky Tricky.” They also delivered a legendary II:I (Two is One) performance at ADE that year. Amazingly, R3HAB and W&W have never been on a track together, until now.
The song opens with a music box synth playing a lullaby-like melody, the vocals come in and give the verse a kind of haunting, ominous quality. This kind of feels like the Timmy Trumpet produced part to me. After that we get to the bridge where there’s some piano notes and finger snaps, trademark R3HAB production. After that we get the massive drop, it’s the same melody from the intro, except now it’s Dutch horns. This part of the song actually sounds like 2013-2016 R3HAB. Sure to be a fan favorite going forward, here’s what the producers had to say about “Distant Memory.” Mainly, that it’s really fun making music with your friends.
