Showtek and Sevenn Drop Raucous New Banger “Pum Pum”

Lots of artists have used the quarantine period to dabble in other sounds and experiment a little, Showtek have been no different. But, it’s always nice whenever an artist you love for their bangers, gives you just that, a straight up banger. That’s exactly what the Janssen brothers deliver on their latest single “Pum Pum.” Teaming up with Sevenn, whom you probably know best from “Boom” with Tiesto, “Pum Pum” is a club banger that expertly blends each of the two artists unique styles.

The track opens with that familiar Island horn riff, Showtek’s frequent collaborator GC comes in on vocals, we haven’t heard this vibe from Showtek since, well, the Island Boy/EDM Sucks EP from two years ago. After the verse, there’s a huge buildup and then we get the massive drop that is definitely Sevenn. This is some heavy Brazilian bass (even though Sevenn is from New York.) After a breakdown, the drop repeats itself, and the melody and groove reveal this is a Showtek track through and through. Here’s what Showtek and Sevenn had to say about the origins of “Pum Pum.”

“The original idea for ‘Pum Pum’ was created on our Stereosonic tour in Australia, during a studio session in Melbourne, together with [singer/songwriter] Sonny Wilson and GC. We have worked on a few ideas for a while, but eventually, it all came together when we collaborated with Sevenn. You can really hear the mixture between our music style and the style of Sevenn. We are very happy how this song came together and are excited about its release. The gimmick of the song, the chopped-up vocal drop, is ideal for the clubs and festivals and will satisfy our fans who can’t wait to go out and party with us again.” – Showtek.

“With lockdown in full throttle, I have been non-stop in studios recording and producing new exciting sounds, expanding musical horizons, and challenging the musical world as we know it. 2021’s second release “Pum Pum” with the legends Showtek has proven to be one of the most exciting new releases for me.” – Sevenn.
