Benny Benassi has been off to a roaring start in 2021. He released a remix pack for his track with Jeremih, “Lovelife.” His classic track “Cinema” got remixed by Galantis, and he featured on Dardust’s track “Within Me.” Now, the legendary Italian producer is back with his first original track of the year, “Sugar.” Teaming up with American-born, Italian-based vocalist Domino, “Sugar” is a grooving and affecting club track with a deep bassline and sleek production.
Following up from “Lovelife,” “Sugar” is definitely one of those songs that give you that feeling of driving at night, not sure where you’re headed. The song starts with some deep synth notes and Domino’s vocals. He makes his intentions pretty well known, he’s deeply enamored with someone. “All I want is a little bit of time with you, so let’s be honest, I really want to be on you.” The production on the track is pretty minimal up until this point. After the verse, we start to get some piano notes, hi-hats, and then finally a buildup. The drop is massive, with a rumbling bassline that perfectly accentuates Domino’s “do-do-do-do’s”
Benny has been teasing the track on his socials, including a lengthy IG post about how invested he is in Domino. Hopefully we can look forward to more great music from this pair. There’s no doubt that Benny Benassi has plenty more up his sleeve for 2021.
