Malvae (AKA Jim van der Breggen) is a global traveler who incorporates sounds from across the world into his music. He initially burst onto the scene in 2017 with his debut single “Haunts Me” (feat. Esther Veen) which ascended to #17 on Spotify’s Viral 50 charts in the United States and notched a feature in the Japanese Netflix series Terrace House.
He went on to release two singles via the acclaimed label CloudKid which featured sounds entirely composed from his mouth, leading to a slot at the Netherlands’ Popronde 2018 and an opening performance on Shallou’s Souls tour. Most recently self-releasing two tracks in “DWLY” and “Call Me Back” in 2019, his focus has now shifted toward a full-length project with more information teased in the coming months.
Now, he’s unveiled his lead single of 2020, “Purpose” (feat. Esther Veen), that is the first taste of a larger environmentally-based project in the Amazon rainforest to come. “Purpose” takes his sample-based ethos into mesmerizing territory as he begins a sonic adventure with Esther Veen lending her stunning vocals to match. You are instantly whisked away into the amazonian adventure that is produced flawlessly.
