Another Friday means a new batch of fresh music. This week, one of the catchiest tracks on the bill is a new collaboration from two Swedish producers making a a splash with their bright take on house music. This new track “Type Like That” is a catchy, summer bop and a great introduction to PAWL and Discrete.
On their second major collaboration, these Swedes make a sultry shift from their previous solo work. “Type Like That” opens up with PAWL’s vocals while a hazy, distant ambiance. This opening catches the mystique of walking through a club or party while PAWL sings about a relationship that plays like a game of cat and mouse.
But some of the finer details are where the song really hits its stride. For example, the timbre of the sparse maracas give a tropical tinge to this club-designated track. On the other hand, the drums are robust, yet inviting to the listeners with its curvy rhythm. It’s these elements that give PAWL and Discrete an edge when bringing in the bigger elements of warped horns and lively bass lines.
For PAWL and Discrete, they have added a new track into the summer playlist of the year with “Type Like That.” It’s a starch take from what the two have done in the past, even on their previous collaboration. But, this song is produced so well and tightly that we look forward to upcoming music from these two in the future.
